FieldComm Operator Training Course

NERAC is pleased to announce a free three-day offering of a Field Communications Operator course, designed to instruct fire department personnel the operation of the FieldComm vehicle including its set up, breakdown and field use in support of an incident. It will also introduce to new operators a general understanding of radio communications, as well as the concepts of interoperability regarding mobile radio communications systems during emergency and event operations. Other subjects that will be covered include the use of ICS forms specific to the Field Communications unit, a general understanding of the expectations operators may encounter during incidents, and the necessity of preplanning as it pertains to radio communications support. This course is being taught by Deputy Chief Phil Charron of the Lowell Fire Department.

  • When: June 24-26
  • Where: Westford Fire Department (65 Boston Road, Westford, MA)

 

The course will run for approximately 8 hours per day, from 8:00am – 5:00pm with a one hour lunch break. Participants from the NERAC region will be eligible to submit for backfill/overtime reimbursement at up to $35/hour.
