Training Opportunity: International Trauma Life Support

The Northeast Homeland Security Regional Advisory Council (NERAC) is pleased to announce an offering of the two-day International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) course. The training will be provided by NortheastEMS, and will take place at Trinity Ambulance’s facilities in Chelmsford, MA on January 16th – 17th, 2020 (8:30am – 5:00pm each day).

The Course will only be open to EMTs who work for ambulance services in the Northeast homeland security region.

Backfill and overtime reimbursement at up to $35.00/hr. will be available.

Students will be asked to provide a mailing address upon registration so that an ITLS textbook can be sent ahead of time. Students are expected to complete a reading assignment and take a pre-test before class begins.

ITLS Overview

The ITLS course is designed to provide advanced training to emergency medical care providers on recognizing the signs of and treating injuries caused by traumatic events.  It includes 8 hours of classroom instruction and 8 hours of practical work.  The course covers treatment of traumatic injuries such as severe hemorrhaging, tension pneumothorax, and head trauma.
