Each year, the Northeast Homeland Security Regional Advisory Council (NERAC) receives an allocation of funding from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS) to improve the capability for the 85 municipalities in the Northeast Region to prevent, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism and other public safety emergencies.
As part of NERAC’s strategic budgeting process for the upcoming fiscal year (FFY2021), the Council has elected to solicit project ideas from the whole community for inclusion in the budget.
If you have a project idea that you would like to have funded for the region, please use the funding request form linked below to explain and justify the project.
NERAC anticipates having access to this funding on or about December 1, 2021 until July 31, 2023. All projects that are submitted must be able to be completed within this time frame. For more immediate needs, please consider submitting a standard Funding Request Form, available from www.NERAC.us or firstname.lastname@example.org.
All projects must:
-Provide a regional benefit to a minimum of three (3) municipalities.
-Have a clear connection to homeland security/anti-terrorism (projects may serve a dual-purpose of improving preparedness for natural disasters as well but must also have a clear connection to terrorism).
-Have the primary purpose of supporting homeland security needs for non-routine events, rather than day-to-day operational needs.

Note: NERAC may require that funding requests of over $15,000.00 be justified either in writing or in person to the Council. If your organization or municipality plans to submit a request for more than $15,000.00, please be prepared to provide a written statement or make a brief presentation at the following meeting justifying the expense.
