Open NERAC Council Seats

Interested candidates should submit a brief cover letter and resume to NERAC@mapc.org by July 24, 2023.

NERAC is seeking qualified candidates to fill three open seats on the Council:
– Regional Transit Authority Representative
– Cybersecurity Representative
– Emergency Medical Services Representative

Candidates must work within the Northeast Region and be active policy/decision makers in the respective related fields.

Council membership is a volunteer position, and responsibilities include attending Council meetings (typically in person on the second Thursday of each month at 1:00 PM), developing/evaluating focused projects, and serving as a subject matter expert. Members volunteer their time and expertise to ensure effective use of homeland security grant funds.

The Council welcomes a range of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, experiences, and skillsets as a means to effectively and equitably allocate the Federal Homeland Security Funding it oversees.

Background on NERAC:
NERAC is a group of public safety stakeholders employed in 13 different public safety disciplines who are appointed by the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s Office of Grants and Research to oversee the use of Federal Homeland Security Funding that is received by the region, which is made up of 85 municipalities.  The Council is responsible for enhancing the ability of the region to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from acts of terror and other disasters that affect the safety of the public by carrying out the strategies and objectives defined by the Massachusetts State Homeland Security Strategy and the National Preparedness Goal. The Council also serves as a forum to promote regional, interdisciplinary collaboration and idea sharing that makes public safety efforts more efficient and effective.
